Stories of faith!   (You will have to scroll down to see the whole page!)

Did Jesus (Yahshua) really walk on water? Yes, of course He did. But do you know that Peter, an ordinary fisherman who was used to fishing in the water and wading in the water did, too?
Actually, that day Yahshua (Jesus) had gone to the desert to rest and to be quiet, because He had just heard the sad news that His cousin, John the Baptist had been killed by the king. So, He and His disciples had taken a boat and sailed to the other side of the lake in order to be on their own, to rest, and perhaps to pray.

1.   When the crowds found out where He was, they walked all the way round the lake to where He was. Yahshua (Jesus) was not angry because they wanted Him to help them when He needed to rest, but He continued to teach them all afternoon, until it was almost evening.

2.   When He saw that the people had walked all the way round the sea to reach Him, the Bible says "He had compassion (pity) on them" and He began to teach them and to heal those who were poorly.

3.   After listening to Yahshua all day, the people began to be hungry. Yashsua's friends (disciples) came and reminded Him that it was late, and they were in the desert, with no food. They suggested that he should send the people away to buy bread from the villages.

4.  But Yahshua said to them,"They don't need to go away, you feed them!" They replied that they only had five small loaves and two fishes. Yahshua blessed the bread and fishes. He gave them to His disciples, and they began to share them out among the people.

5.   A miracle took place! Every one of the five thousand people was fed! Afterwards when they gathered up the remains of the food they found that there were twelve whole baskets left over! What an amazing miracle Yahshua performed that day!

Later, Yahshua told His disciples (friends) to get into a small ship and go over the sea to the other side while He sent all the people back to their homes. When all was quiet, Yahshua went up into the mountains by Himself to pray. Maybe He was thinking about His cousin John, and how sad he felt that he had been killed by King Herod.

6.  When the disciples were about half way across the sea, the waves became very rough, and were beating against the sides of the ship in which they were sailing. Perhaps they were afraid, especially when they saw something strange! They saw what looked like a man walking on the sea! He was actually walking on top of the water! They were suddenly frightened, and they thought it was a spirit or something very creepy!

They had never seen anything like this before, and they began to cry out because of their fear and terror. When He came near to their ship, He spoke to them and said, "Don't be afraid, it is Me!" They knew it was Yahshua, and they were so happy to see Him.

7.  Peter looked at Yahshua walking on the sea, and called to Him "Master, if it is really You, let me walk on the water too, and come to You!" When Yahshua said that he could, Peter climbed out of the ship and began to walk on the water towards Yahshua!
While he was looking at Yahshua and believing, (having faith) he actually found himself walking on top of the water, but then he stopped looking at Yahshua and began to notice the wind blowing and the waves roaring around him and he began to be afraid all over again!

8.   His feet no longer were walking on the top of the water, but he found himself beginning to sink! He cried out to Yahshua and begged Him to save him: "Master, save me!" he called.

Yahshua stretched out His hand and caught him. He said "Oh Peter, you have such a little bit of faith, why did you doubt?" Yahshua brought him back to the ship and as soon as they climbed in the wind suddenly stopped and all the waves calmed down. The men in the ship began to worship Yahshua saying "Surely, You are the Son of God!"

What an amazing story. Peter had been alright, and he actually walked on the water towards Yahshua until he noticed the stormy weather, and began to doubt that he could really be walking on top of the water! As soon as he took his eyes off Yahshua and looked at the noisy wind and the clashing waves, he lost his faith and began to sink.
